Cadmium is a metallic element that has many uses including pigments, nickel-cadmium batteries, and corrosion prevention plating on steel surfaces. Although very useful, cadmium is toxic to humans, even at very low concentrations. This course discusses the physical properties of cadmium, the health hazards associated with cadmium exposure, exposure limits, and how and where exposure can occur. It also covers engineering controls, administrative controls, and medical monitoring.
