While all areas of a pulp and paper mill pose risks, woodyards are often considered one of the most hazardous areas due to several factors, including the presence of heavy machinery, the potential for fire, and exposure to dust and noise.
At mills that store whole logs, working around log stacks can be particularly dangerous. This course focuses on log stacking safety, from best practices for stacking and reclaiming using a log stacker or crane, to safety precautions during equipment inspections, to hazards present when operating heavy equipment.
