Reciprocating Compressor Overhaul

The purpose of this course is to provide participants with an overview of reciprocating compressors and explain how compressed air is used to power and control many vital pieces of equipment in industrial facilities. At the completion of this course, participants will be able to describe compressor operation and maintenance tasks as well as procedures for disassembling a reciprocating compressor, cleaning and inspecting the compressor's parts, and reassembling the compressor.

At the end of this module, you will be able to:

• Name some reasons why air compressors might need to be taken out of service and disassembled
• List main components typically removed for an overhaul
• Describe a procedure for disassembling a reciprocating air compressor
• Describe a procedure for cleaning and inspecting internal components of a reciprocating air compressor
• Describe a procedure for re-assembling a reciprocating air compressor
• List some operational checks to perform after the compressor is reassembled and started
