Personal Protective Equipment

While proper training, safe work practices, and equipment safety features all contribute to a safe work environment, they cannot eliminate every hazard. In many cases, personal protective equipment (PPE) must also be used. This course covers head, respiratory, eye, face, hand, foot, hearing, and body protective equipment that can be used to protect workers from workplace hazards. It also covers OSHA requirements related to PPE and how PPE should be selected and worn. 

By the end of this course, you will be able to

• Identify various types of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Describe employer responsibilities related to PPE
• Describe the controls that should be used to control hazards at the workplace
• Describe the selection process for PPE
• Identify specific PPE required for certain work conditions, job tasks, and hazards
• Explain the proper technique for inserting foam earplugs into the ear canal
