Following accessibility standards and guidelines can be difficult, and it is made more challenging by the fact that many times, you will find conflicting standards that you have to adhere to. Worse yet, on some aspects of accessibility, the codes are completely silent. What do you do in these cases? This course will provide a path to follow when you encounter conflicting or non-existent standards, and cover how to use Universal Design, common sense, and best practices.
Note: This is a live webinar delivered via GoToWebinar. Session instructions will be emailed to you 24-48 hours prior to the webinar and the morning of the webinar. If you have not received your instructions for any reason, please call Customer Support (1-866-546-1212) the day of the event. Webinars are live and interactive. Students will have the ability to interact with and ask questions of the presenter directly.
At the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Define Universal Design and list its seven principles.
2. Determine which codes or standards have precedence over others when they all apply but are conflicting.
3. Identify good design practices that also provide accessibility.
4. List 4 building blocks that they can refer to when the codes are non-existent or silent.
